About This Item
Holocaust Library, New York, 1989. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition. The text is illustrated with Occasional black-and-white photograph. The Last Walk of Janusz Korczak, A Prose Poem by Aaron Zeitlin begins on page 7 and preface to the diary begins on page 67 by Igor Newerly. Illustrated paperback binding with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. In 1942 Janusz Korczak was an educator for 200 orphans in Warsaw. He would not abandon them, even though he was offered an exemption, when they were herded on to the boxcars for the concentration of Treblinka, where, he at the head of his children marched into the gas chambers. This is a reproduction of his diaries while he and his children were still in the ghetto. A little creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels. Reading creases and fading of the back strip stop light age toning of the text block edges. Previous owners name to the top edge of the half title page and rubber stamp to the top right hand corner of the contents page (well-known Holocaust scholars). Original price sticker still attached to the lower left hand corner of the front panel. Size: Landscape Octavo. [6, 7 - 191, [1] pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Biography & Autobiography; Holocaust; Poland; WW II; Inventory No: 0290546. .
