Foxing to end papers and preliminary and tertiary leaves, some fading to title lettering of front cover, cover tips rubbed and a bit soft, spine ends have been strengthened. Missing inserted plate pg. 65 which has been replaced with a facsimile. A good sound copy. (19897). Octavo, pp. [i-vii] viii [1] 2-300 [301-302 ads], frontispiece and eleven inserted illustrations by B.E. Minns, original green cloth, front stamped in red, yellow and black, spine stamped in gold. Collection of twelve stories all featuring Flaxman Low, arguably the first occult detective. The stories were first published in two groups of six in Pearson's magazine in 1898 and 1899 under the pen name of E. and H. Heron.
