From 1641 To 1646 Nithard Taughts Philosophy And Canon Law In Graz . He Was Then Chosen By The Emperor Ferdinand Iii Of Austria To Be The Tutor Of His Children Leopold And Marianne . In 1669 Nithard Leaves For Exile In Rome, Where He Is Named Ambassador Of Spain (With Promise Of The Hat Cardinalice). The Spanish Ambassador Extraordinary Spends Most Of His Time Writing His Memoirs (21 Volumes) And Other Pious Works. He Was Appointed Titular Archbishop Of Edessa On November 16, 1671 And Created Cardinal In Pectore Soon After By Pope Clement X (February 22, 1672 ). He Wished To Return To Spain But Does Not Obtain Permission. It Seems That He Was Influential At The Conclave Of 1676 Which Elected Cardinal Benedetto Odescalchi Pope: Blessed Innocent Xi .
