Octavo, xvi, 186 pages plus 13 full-page plates and a dedication (on Fairclough Family letterhead) mounted on the front pastedown. Gilt-decorated cloth; extremities very slightly rubbed; top edge a little sunned; an excellent copy. A history from the fourteenth century to the twentieth by sometime Emeritus Professor of Economic History at the University of London, Theodore Cardwell Barker (1923-2001); the book was published while he was Reader in Economic History at the London School of Economics, before becoming the first Professor of Economic History at the University of Kent in 1964 (International Committee of Historical Sciences website).
