Appears unread, in original publisher's red cloth, publishers original red top edge stained pages, no frontispiece as originally issued, rubbing to spine, edges, pages are clean, bright, unmarked and binding tight. Misspelling error by the publisher of Tarzan as "Tarzon" on the title page as in the first printing. Previous book store embossed seal on first endpaper. Neat previous owners bookplate on first pastedown from private library collection. First published in the pulp magazine Munsey's Magazine in 1922 and first published by Macaulay in 1923. Much of the novel's characters and background were based on ERB's real life ranch lifestyle in Tarzana, California, the novel was Hollywood, Los Angeles style proto-noir, written before hardboiled detective pulp noir became popular later in the mid 1920s. ERB's only Hollywood noir novel, collectible. 320 pgs. 8vo.
