Stated "Presentation Edition", inscribed and signed by the President of Marshall Field & Company, in nice unclipped original dust jacket. Clean black cloth boars with gold glove and rose decoration on cover with gold "presentation copy" lettering stamped on front board; gold stamped lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Front free endpaper inscription: May 1952 - Please accept this book as a token of our esteem and appreciation for your friendship across so many years. To you we are deeply grateful. - Hughston M. McBain." There is a small "70" at top edge of front free endpaper, otherwise no marks. Liberally illustrated with photographs and drawings. 384 pages with index. Nice jacket designed by Georgette Roux is clean, has slight edge wear, no chips, not price clipped; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A whole colorful century of American life is wrapped up in this vivid, zestful story of a little dry goods store that started in the mud of Chicago's Lake Street in 1852 and grew up to become a world famous personality.
