New York: Macmillan Company, 1939. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Good in a Good jacket, clipped but still priced ($2.50), generally rubbed and worn, a few chips and large closed tears. Grey buckram, mottled, with a black ink panel and gilt lettering and rules on the spine. Square and firmly bound foxed at the edges and endpapers, generally toned, clean otherwise. Koestler's debut novel, one of the Spartacus rebellion of gladiators owned by Lentulus of Capua.
