Marble boards, endpapers and foredges. Fairly extensive foxing to the plates. Expert mending to front and rear joint. Previous owner's bookplate inside front cover. Binding is tight. First published in 12801, Strutt's was the standard guide to the history, customs, and rules of every sport and board game known to Britain. These included: chess, tennis, falconry, hunting, billiards, swimming, track and field, archery, rowing, wrestling, angling, horse-racing, skating, sailing, puppetry, minstrel singing, juggling, fencing, fire-eating, bull-baiting, bowling, dominos, various card-games, dice, jousting, an early form of baseball.
