About This Item

New York: Avon Books , 1979. Third printing. Paperback. Very Good. Edmund Crispin (The Moving Toy Shop) wrote off beat mysteries starring his sleuth, Gervase Fen, an eccentric Oxford don. Fen just happens to be in the neighborhood when dismembered bodies start to appear in Glazebridge. "...Glimpses of the Moon was Crispin's best because of the wicked wit. Nearly every paragraph, surely every page has some sly hit against the modern world. I have read this book about four times and I couldn't tell you the story. But each time I pick it up, I know I will spend the next couple of hours laughing out loud. I have examples in mind, such as his two page description of a pompous policeman lighting his pipe. But it really takes Crispin's skill to bring the story and his quirky, unforgettable characters to life. I don't expect readers to get offended by his satire. Crispin is a bit like Saturday Night Live. It's difficult to resent attacks that are directed at everything, especially when they are so light-hearted and good-natured. This is really a great book that is worth reading!" -- review by Stephen Botts. Book is in very good condition with moderate edge wear, rubbed and bumped on edges and corners, lower corners have creases, there is a crease on front cover by the spine and a small closed tear at the spine. There is some age discoloration to the cover and a little sticker residue on the back cover. The pages have started to tan.

About Trolls Treasure

Home-based, online sales only. I am running out of space to keep my collection of books, but I cannot bypass any chance offered at searching out some interesting venue offering books. I dithered for quite some time over this problem, and went right on buying books, until it occurred to me that I could make room for new purchases if I started selling some of my books. So, here I am, a small business, but offering personal service. Happy to answer questions.
