Publisher's grey cloth over paper-covered boards. Gilt lettering to the spine. A near fine bright and clean copy. No inscriptions. In the VERY RARE dustwrapper priced 6s net to the inside flap (as called for). The dustwrapper is VG indeed with a 2.2 cm chip at the base of the spine. A delightful survey of the history of oysters. Laid in are numerous press cutting and oyster-related promotional material including: an oyster price-list from December 1935, an article in the Evening Standard from September 1, 1936 (There's an ~R~ in the Month by Horace Thorogood) regarding the arrival of 100,000 oysters to Billingsgate fish market in London; and "Oyster Days" by Maurice Lang in Food and Cookery September 1957- notes and recipes on oysters to greet the Season.
