Illustrated endpapers, both different, front endpaper showing a contemporary illustration of the Melbourne International exhibition, The Grand Palace, 1880, rear endpaper showing a contemporary illustration of the Sydney International exhibition, The Grand Palace, 1879. Coloured illustrated frontispiece, showing "Landing of the Australian Contingent at Suakim, Soudan, 1885". The text is illustrated with colour and black-and-white illustrations, black-and-white photography and the occasional black-and-white line drawing. Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured illustration and titles to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Slip case with coloured illustrations to both front and back panels, with white, red and black coloured titles to the front and rear panel. A history of Australia from the founding of the Bulletin newspaper to the end of World War I. Rubbing of the book corners and a little to the back strip edges which also show a little fraying. A few marks to the book panels and to the half title page. The 12 inch vinyl record that accompanied the work is missing. Rubbing and a little fraying of the slip case entrance corners and to the back strip corners. Rubbing of the slip case panels with along with a little fading. Some marking along the back strip.
