About This Item

San Francisco; (1982-1991): Ignatius Press. First Editions. Octavo. ). The first five volumes of the most important of late 20th century Catholic theologians who earlier interacted with Karl Barth and became a representative of the best in both theology and mysticism. Since he accepted the traditional views of Johannine and Petrine writings, modern scholarship often saw him as dated. Nevertheless, his understanding of both patristic and mystical strains within the church will resonate with most Catholic scholars and the Protestant biblical scholars who take a conservative view of text and yet hear theological truth in the writings of Karl Barth. These first five volumes each with an index have been determined a classic. A very nice set all in very good condition, bound black cloth, spine lettering gilt, in unclipped dust jackets lettered in black and red. A handsome set in jacket protectors.
