About This Item
Hardcover with dust jacket, published by McGraw-Hill, 1971. This is the book club edition. First published in 1932, this is the 1971 English language translation by Dmitri Nabokov. A somewhat autobiographical novel, the story of Martin Edelweiss and his family's escape from Russia. 205 pages, 6" X 8-1/2". The dust jacket is intact and has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Jacket has a few dots of foxing on the top inch or so of the flaps. No fading to the bright yellow color, which is very common to this edition. Black cloth covered boards, with the title and author name blind stamped on the front board, and printed in gold on the spine. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn. Brick red top-stain does not appear to be faded. Nice brick red colored paste-down pages and end papers. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. This edition has rough edges to the fore edge of the text block. Text block is clean. Binding is tight and square. This copy is not a library discard. Nicely printed for a book club edition. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
