About This Item

The Anti-Liberation Society, Church Defence Depot, London N/D Apparent first ed. Approx. 8.5 X 5.75" in gold stamped black cloth. Spine ends, corners and lower edge of front cover rubbed. Covers lightly soiled. Front hinge just beginning to crack - not bad. This book is undated but there is an owner's name and date of 1906. 136pp + 3 pp of ads. This is a polemic by a conservative (Lawyer and writer) against the socialism he saw beginning in society. He mentions the "Social Democratic Federation" which sounds like the forerunner of the present-day labor party in Britain. Although the author abhors the entire program of the federation, he limits the scope of his argument to those proposals dealing with appropriation of church property. An interesting look back in time. Interesting how many of these "revolutionary" ideas have actually become policy.. F. Hardcover.
