This is a bound volume of "GODEY'S LADY'S BOOK" for the year 1851 - a complete run of 12 issues, January to December. The volume is loaded with full-page illustrations, many of which are hand-colored (or have color tints). A highlight of the volume is early content related to naturalist John James Audubon, who died January, 1851. There is a poem titled "Sonnet - Audubon" by William Alexander, as well as a biographical sketch titled "Incidents in the Life of Audubon" (with an illustrated portrait of Audubon) by Thomas Bangs Thorpe. Also included are home architectural floor plans, musical scores, fashion illustrations, home decor, illustrated advertisements, clothing patterns, and much more. Content includes fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Condition:
Numerous stain spots on the covers; heavy shelf wear to the board edges; some rubbing to the leather at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and to the bands on the spine. Tight binding with no loose pages. Consistent foxing to the pages throughout the volume. Occasional small tears in random places. The front end paper has a name/date (1851) in pencil, and references to the Audubon content in pencil. The front pastedown has an old bookplate affixed.
