Illustrated dust jacket over blue cloth boards with gilt titles and decoration to spine and front board. Light shelfwear to corners and head and tail of spine. Gilding bright. Unclipped jacket with a few small chips and creases to head and tail of spine and folds of jacket flaps, archivally reinforced. Spine and rear panel of jacket age-toned. Top edge of textblock dust-stained and foredge lightly foxed. Clean and tight internally. near fine A beautiful copy of one of Wharton's final books. Wharton was nominated three times for the Nobel Prize for Literature and became the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. An astute social critic, Wharton continues her writing on the problems of the upper classes with the Gods Arrive. 1932
