Anyone writing on Polish affairs - past or present - will have to read it..." (from the back panel of Vol. II).

___DESCRIPTION: Both volumes bound in full red cloth over boards, gilt lettering on the spines, a few maps and black-and-white reproductions of photographs bound in throughout; octavo size (8 3/8" by 5 5/8"), Vol. I approx. 605 pp. and Vol. II approx. 725 pp. Dust jackets with summaries on both flaps and a short author bio on back flaps, flaps are unclipped and unpriced.

___CONDITION: Volumes near fine, with clean boards, straight corners (with one exception), all without rubbing, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, and the interiors clean and bright; one corner bumped, the rest straight, the sole prior owner marking we see a notation in blue ink at the top of the verso of the rear free endpapers. The jackets better than very good, clean, with very minor overall wear mostly noticeable at the tail of the spine of Vol. I and a short closed tear to the head of the spine of Vol. II.
