About This Item
Simon & Schuster. New York. 2004. Quarter-bound in black with tan paper boards and gilt lettering on spine. Fine First edition with requisite number line ending in 1. Inscribed by author on flyleaf showing jersey number (5) and induction date for HOF (1986). Unclipped ($25) jacket is protected with a removable mylar cover. The 6'2" 215 lb. "Golden Boy" was the Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame (1956) turned all-star running back for the Green Bay Packers (1957-1966). During this time the Packers won four NFL champions ships (1961, 62, 65 and 66) as well as the (well remembered) First Super Bowl (Green Bay won 35-10 vs. Kansas City). Alas, no Mahomes at the time, else perhaps a different game? Perhaps not well know is the 66 field goals and 190 extra points that the "Golden Boy" kicked durinig his career. True, he had a "nose for the dirt" but he also had an lively off-field life involving gambling, women, alcohol and drugs. For example, Chapter 25 (To Err Is Human) offers insight into his off-field life. 6.25x9.75 in. 291 pg.
