Methuen, 1895. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1st printing. In good to very good condition. Original brown buckram boards with gilt titles to spine. Signs of wear to edges and panels and one or two marks. Binding remains secure. Internally some aging to end papers and numerous light pencil lines along side the text or ticks to the top of the poems. Gilt top edge others rough cut. A collection of predominantly 16th century poems. QC defines the Lyric to be a short poem essentially melodious in rhythm and structure treating summarily of a single thought feeling or situation. This includes the Sonnet, but excludes the Ode and The Ballad.
