About This Item
London: Mamilllan and Co..., 1922. Small 8vo, 149 x 96 mms., pp. [xii], 387 [388 colophon], vignette on title-page, finely bound in full soft-grain red morocco, gilt lozenge on front cover, gilt spine, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt. A fine copy, with this inscription on the recto of the front free end-paper, "To D. E. Nicholson/ With every good wish/ from/ M. Dobson./ 201//11/13." Francis Turner Palgrave (1824 - 1897) published his Golden Treasury in 1861, and it has never been out of print - or at least not for long. I can't vouch for the textual history of this printing, but there were a number of revisions and redactions over the years, many of which have attracted useful bibliographical attention.
