Fair/No Jacket. true first edition. rebound in recent full black leather. the panel with the skull and golden eyes has been included on the front of the book as has the gold lettering from the spine. externally the book is attractive. internally the book is rather poor. there are new end papers and this book shows considerable use and wear. at some point the book had been crudely repaired with tape and this has left brown marks in the gullies of some pages. page 61 is torn and had been tape repaired. there is also some scarring. sold with all faults. internally the book is poor but externally quite attractively bound. Fair/Good. 8x5x1. the jacket is a very nice colour facsimile. the book is the true first but it is worn. the spine has been repaired. there is a previous owner's signature on the front end page and an old tape residue mark. 'goldfinger' has been written in ink on the rear end page.a school stamp mark is on the dedication page with a small hole. the boards are a little rubbed and there are small age related marks and tears. sadly the book has not been well looked after. the binding is excellent however and the book presents well. Blind stamped illustration of a skull with gilt coloured 'eyes' (a little scuffed). The black boards are comfortable, just a little worn about the edges and corners. The back board has very mild 'bubbling' from storage conditions. Both front and back have a little scuffing and marking. The spine has pull-wear to the head and foot. The gilt titling on the spine is fresh. The boards are secure and sure. The papertrims are a little streaked with foxing. The front and end papers have handling and ownership marks, wear, just a few spots of foxing. The pages have some few foxing marks along the edges that have seeped from the trim. There are very faint - and very few - handling marks here and there. Otherwise, the contents are overwhelmingly comfortable, clean, clear, generous, welcoming, amenable, fresh-faced. fk.
