About This Item

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1984. Hardcover. Small 4to. Quarter blue cloth with silver spine lettering and blue paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. 431pp. Tables. Near fine/fine. Wonderfully tight, bright AEI reprint edition of this study in which (screams jacket front panel) "A Senior Fellow of the American Enterprise Institute... examin[es] the facts, exploding the myths, and revealing the economic, social, political, and demographic trends that are shaping America's future." Boldly inscribed and signed in blue fineline on front flyleaf: "For Bob Malott -- / Wishing you much / good news! / Ben Wattenberg / AEI / 10/84." Wattenberg (1933-2015) was an influential nonpartisan neoconservative political commentator and author. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago civic/business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. Wattenberg and Malott were both affiliated with the right-wing think tank American Enterprise Institute -- the "AEI" of his inscription. Laid in is a "Fortune" magazine review of this title.
