Bert Levy (1872-1934), vaudevillian, cartoonist, producer and author, was born in Ballarat, Australia, to Jewish parents. He moved to the United States, working in vaudeville, and later in films; he died in Los Angeles.
A collection of short stories (with autobiographical elements) by vaudevillian, cartoonist, film producer and author Bert Levy, with an eighteen-page preface, detailing Levy's early life in Australia, talents as an artist, travels to Britain and the United States, including an account of meeting Mark Twain, drawing his portrait, and recounting a train trip with Twain to the West Coast. Bert Levy performed as a vaudevillian, appeared in numerous Broadway productions (circa 1915-1922), wrote and produced film shorts.
Inscribed and signed by Bert Levy: "To Mr. & Mrs. W. D. Wegefarth/ with the best wishes of the author/ Bert Levy" (on the front flyleaf).
