The author is a retired Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy and an acknowledged expert on shipwrecks. Here, he gives a detailed study of shipwrecks around the Goodwin Sands (the sandbanks in the English Channel), and comprehensive coverage of incidents from the early sixteenth century to the present day, including the great storm of 1703 in which four major men o'war and 1,190 men were lost. Over a thousand vessels are listed in the Wreck Index and the book is illustrated with seven wreck location charts, three maps and several photographs. Condition: This copy is in very good condition.
