About This Item

Garden City: Doubleday & Co., 1974. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good to Near Fine/Very Good. The 22nd novel of this under-appreciated contemporary of Bellow and Mailer, features Dean Goss, the maverick leader of American art, who has settled down after the death of his second wife to enjoy his wealth and fame. Then his talented son, Jason, introduces him to a radiant and barbaric girl with a genius for disruption and Goss' calm life is shattered as he finds himself swept up in drafts of creative and erotic forces beyond his control. Remainder spray on bottom edge of text, a single red dot on the upper edge, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket shows a pair of small tears on the lower edge of the back panel, some soiling and minor wear along the edges and spine ends. Not price-clipped, no chipping or other major damage. A collectable copy by a writer who was also a painter and lithographer and deserves to be better known.
