Perkins had a distinguished naval career, including command of a gunboat that ran the batteries at Port Hudson; received the rebel surrender at New Orleans, assisted in the blockade of Sabine Pass, and commanded a monitor in the Battle of Mobile Bay. He was the father of Mrs. Larz Anderson of Brookline, MA. Many photos of people and places in Hopkinton. Paper periodical, good. . Catalogs: History/Biography.
