Top edge gilt, bevelled edges, color frontispiece, index, photographs. This is the Special Canadian Edition which is taken from the plates of the British edition. The copyright page lists two separate editions of which it is not clear that this copy is from: the second Impression of the Presentation Edition, and the sixth impression of the People's Edition. The spine is darkened and worn at the top and bottom. Also writes as Lord Tweedsmuir. Book about George V--King of England. (History--England).

All edges gilt, coated yellow endpapers, frontispieces with tissue guards, vignette title-pages, notes, table, index, folding color map. The edges and corners are lightly worn, vol. 1 is a little cocked, there is a previous owner's paper glued to the front endpaper of vol. 1, there are some notes neatly written in fountain pen at the end of vol. 2, and a few minor notes in pencil. London: Mark Baskett and the Assigns of Robert Baskett, 1764. Fine. [2],403-407,[1] p.; 33 cm. (folio). Three stab-holes, but no other evidence that this was ever bound. Edges are untrimmed. Title page reads "Anno Regni Georgii III. . . . At the Parliament begun and holden at Westminster, the Nineteenth Day of May, Anno Dom. 1761., in the First Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third . . . And from thence continued by several Prorogations to the Fifteenth Day of November, 1763, being the Third Session of the Twelfth Parliament of Great Britain." Woodcut royal coat of arms above the imprint. Woodcut historiated initial at the beginning of the act. In order to increase the supply of hemp and flax for the production of sail cloth and cordage, needed by the Royal Navy and the merchant marine, this act granted a bounty to those who brought those materials from the American colonies to England. In Fine Condition: clean and bright.

With 31 illustrations in photogravure, 3 facsimiles of documents, and 76 maps and plans (some fold-outs), bibliography, index. A small dampstain near the fore-edge of the front board, a previous owner's stamp on the fore-edges, and the dust jacket has minor edgewear. Book about Duke of Marlborough. Delray Beach, Florida: Levenger Press, 2005. Full leather. Here is the beautiful Levenger Press edition, in near fine condition in the original publisher's box. The binding shows just a trivial few blemishes. The contents are immaculate. The publisher's box shows only superficial scuffs and dings to the edges. The Dream is Churchill's revealing essay about a ghostly reunion with his father, Lord Randolph Churchill, in which Winston recounts the world events that have transpired since his father's death - without revealing his own role in them. The Dream was first published a year after Churchill's death, on 30 January 1966, in the Sunday Telegraph. This extremely attractive edition was produced by Levenger Press in 2005. Boston: Bromer Booksellers, 1996. Gorey, Edward. Small quarto. 26 pp. From an edition of 2,000 copies, this is one of 200 copies signed and numbered by Edward Gorey. Bromer special holiday catalog with previously unpublished, full-color cover design by Gorey, who created the artwork originally for a Nieman Marcus holiday catalogue. When the retailer rejected Gorey's work, choosing that of another artist instead, Bromer Booksellers happily acquired the illustration, which features frolicking bears around a wreath, set against a starry blue background. A nice example of the artist's whimsical touch. Fine.

The Saalfield Publishing Co, 1909. Hardcover. Acceptable. Edith A. Root's early-century, over-sized "dollhouse" book with illustrations (furniture, etc.) that can be cut out and mounted in any of nine different rooms. Full-color lithographs comprise an entire house. Root deliberately limited the number of illustrations so that the house could be customized and furnished with illustrations cut out from magazines and other sources. Rare. No copies appear in WorldCat library database at the time of this posting. 30 pp. 15 5/8" x 10". Tight copy with considerable shelf wear. Corners bumped and worn through, as are about half the edges. Hinges pulled away from backing somewhat, not affecting binding integrity. First two leaves show evidence of having been detached and competently reattached. Two small crayon markings noted.
