About This Item
vi+87+[2 ad] pages with photographs, figures, charts, tables, maps and appendixes. Quarto (10 3/4" x 8 3/4") bound in original publisher's wrappers. The Arizona Archaeologist Number 19. First edition.
The Gray Mountain Site, located by the community of Gray Mountain about ten miles southeast of the little Colorado River, consist of extensive scatters of flacked stone artifacts: cores, core tools, flake tools, and debitage. Virtually all of these artifacts are from a high-grade chert, which occurs naturally in the area in the form of fist-sized modules and abundant small fragments resulting from the disintegration of the chert nodules. There are no structures of rock alignments visible on the site surface and there is no indication that cultural material extends more than a few centimeters subsurface.
Condition: Light edge wear, corners gently bumped else very good.
