Yellow cloth, spine blocked in red with black lettering. Bright, tight and clean. Contents excellent. Neat contemporary owner name or internal markings. VERY GOOD INDEED. 118 pages. First published on 14 January 1946. Hooper 17. Dedicated to Barbara Wall - 'Best and most long-suffering of scribes'. (Sister-in-law of Colin Hardie who typed-up several manuscripts for Lewis). This story is of a visit to Heaven, in the form of a day trip by bus for those in Hell. There are several conversations which the author overhears, between Spirits and Ghosts. His guide to the heavenly regions in this dream is George MacDonald. The whole book is a comment on MacDonald's warning: 'No, there is no escape. There is no heaven with a little of hell in it - no plan to retain this or that of the devil in our hearts or our pockets. Out Satan must go, every hair and feather'. **Will be well-packed for posting/shipping**. 8vo. Synopsis

C.S. Lewis’ The Great Divorce is a classic Christian allegorical tale about a bus ride from hell to heaven. An extraordinary meditation upon good and evil, grace and judgment, Lewis’s revolutionary idea in The Great Divorce is that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. Using his extraordinary descriptive powers, Lewis’ The Great Divorce will change the way we think about good and evil. -C.S. Lewis Official Website.
