Color, pictorial stiff wrappers, 39 pp., frontispiece [The Tabernacle Organ], preface, illustrated from photographs, portraits. The purpose of this little book is to give something of the history of the Tabernacle and Organ, which is generally regarded as one of the greatest in the world. This booklet provides photographic illustrations and details on the construction of the famed tabernacle constructed between 1865 and 1867, but with most of the work focused on the Tabernacle organ considered to be one of the finest examples of American organ building, and originally built by Joseph Ridges. Containing 700 pipes and constructed primarily of locally derived materials, the pipes included those from wood, zinc, as well as tin and lead alloys. At the time of this publication, the organ had been largely updated, and converted to electric powered blowers for the bellows. Covers are lightly soiled else a near fine, bright copy.
