About This Item

Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 1973. First printing. Hardcover. Fine/near fine. In first or second state dust jacket with two photos on rear panel (we have had correspondence in the past with a fellow in New Mexico who styles himself a Hillerman expert and says the second state jacket is actually the first state jacket and he can prove it, so let's just say we're leaning toward first state), fine in very good jacket with light wear, a couple short tears hidden by jacket protector, a couple accidental pen marks to rear flap. Inscribed to Lloyd Hackler, "my old friend, campadre, and the world's best reporter." In the 1960s, before moving into prominent positions in Washington, Hackler was an editor and reporter on at least two NM papers, the Santa Fe New Mexican and Alburquerque Journal.
