Full page photogravure plates of The Grand Fleet in " The Narrow Seas " , Beatty , and Smith-Dorrien . Vol. III : Published in 1915 . Covers the period from the Dogger Bank Battle to the fight for the Dardanelles . Full page Photogravure plates of the trench battle at Neuve Chapelle , Joffre, Albert I , and Haig . Vol. IV : Published in 1915 . Covers the period from the Second Battle of Ypres to the Sulva Sea Battles . Full page photogravure plates of a typical soldier , Queen Elizabeth of Belgium , Warneford , and Lloyd George as Minister of Munitions . Vol. V : Published in 1916 . Covers the period from the breaking of the Russian fortress lines to the overthrow of Montenegro . All volumes are profusely illustrated . The photogravure plates are printed on extra heavy paper . These large volumes are bound in sturdy three quarter leather , buckram bindings . The hinges on all volumes are tight with the exception that the front hinge on Volume IV is beginning to loosen . The covers on all volumes show some scuffing to the leather and the covers to Volume I are poor with material missing on the spine . Volume V also has material missing on the spine panel . The text blocks are in very good condition in all volumes and all of the original material is present .In summary , the textblock and all photographs are in very good condition . The hinges are are strong on the large , heavy volumes . The boards show deterioration , especially to the two spines .
