Boston: Patrick Donahoe, 1849. John Cornelius O'Callaghan (1805-1883) was an historian whose famous work was the history of the Irish Brigades in France. He wrote for "The Nation" and was arrested in 1843. This miscellany was first published in Dublin in 1841, then Philadelphia a year later. This is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing from a few years later. An uncommon to scarce title. Green cloth binding, decoratively stamped, with titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; 375 pages. Previous-owner label on the front paste-down; matching signature and date (1937) on the FFEP. Mild bumping and rub to the tips.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Green cloth, gilt spine titles. 12mo. 375pp. Very Good. Light rubbing at corners and spine-ends. Bookplate of the Holy Cross College Library on front pastedown Bookplate states that volume has been released from the library. Book is signed twice by Anthony Ludden; Patrick Anthony Ludden (1836-1912) was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the first Bishop of Syracuse, New York (1887-1912). On December 14, 1886, Ludden was appointed the first Bishop of the newly erected Diocese of Syracuse by Pope Leo XIII.
