Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1917. Hardcover. 307 pages. 5-1/8 by 7-1/2 inches. By the American poet and playwright who moved with other writers and luminaries of his day, including D. H. Lawrence, Aldus Huxley, Ansel Adams, Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg and Kahlil Gibran. Second issue, published the same year as the first edition. Red cloth titles on front cover and spine; frontispiece was not included in this issue, but this copy with illustrator credit on title page as it did with the first edition. Minor edge wear with some toning to endpapers and top of page block, no dust jacket. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper with a line from his poem, The Golden Gate: ''The base of Tamalpais reaching down, alters its outline to a cloud' -- Witter Bynner.'.
