Hardcover, original 1896 publication and not a modern reprint. Marbled paper covered boards half bound with leather to corners and spine, though the spine is completely missing. This has caused the boards to be a bit shaky as well. Decorative end pages in front and rear with the front and page having the number 28 penned near the top. The second and third front and page, as well as the page opposite the title has a small stamping, nor the markings found in the book. The hinges at the boards are intact on the inside and the text pages are secure. There is some pulling after page 334 and there is a hinge crack starting at one of the advertisement pages in the back. The first rear and page also has something on it written in pencil signifying this is volume 1. Paper is toned due to age but overall, pages are clean. There are a few smudge marks, but nothing serious.
