About This Item

Houghton Mifflin, 1986. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 1986 FIRST EDITION hardcover with dustjacket. URENAD COPY with bright, well-bound pages. Jacket shows very minor shelf-rubbing and very minor edge rubbing only. This is NOT an ex-library book and not a remainder. Nice copy! "This is the story of a forgotten hero. Paul Rosbaud was a distinguished science editor for the German firm of Springer Verlag, a close friend of the famous physicists who changed our world with the discovery of nuclear fission, and apparently, a pillar of Nazi society. The other side of the coin is that Rosbaud was also Winston Churchill's most invaluable spy in Germany throughout World War II... his work as a spy was not done for money (when he died in 1963, he left 500 pounds) or for fame (the British Secret Service has kept his file closed); all was done through compassion for humanity and a burning hatred of Nazism. 'The Griffin' was Paul Rosbaud's code name as a spy, and this is the first telling of his story.
