The Grotonian. 25 issues from November 1902 to June 1905, bound in one volume.
During this era, the Grotonian followed a monthly publication schedule of October through June, presumably coinciding with the school year. The 25 issues contained in this offering are:
From Volume 19, 7 issues - November 1902 through June 1903. Missing from Volume 19 are the October 1902 and April 1903 issues .
From Volume 20, all 9 issues - October 1903 through June 1904.
From Volume 21, all 9 issues - October 1904 through June 1905.
These magazines are uncommon. As of this listing, I see no other examples of pre-1930 issues available online.
Condition of the book is Good. The exterior of the book is half-bound leather over marbled boards. The main condition issue is a large leather chip missing from the spine (see photos).
The interior condition is Very Good. Inside pages are complete. There are some very occasional pencil marks (x's or similar) to be found in page margins, likely denoting an article the prior owner wanted to read.
Groton School has a reputation as being one of the top private schools in the United States. Founded in 1884, its list of alumni includes Franklin D. Roosevelt, Averell Harriman and Dean Acheson.
The content of the magazines focuses on school events, sports, alumni news, and occasional student fiction or essays.
Standard shipping is USPS Media Mail. A shipping surcharge may be required for expedited or overseas shipping.

Title on spine is "Tisbury's Town and Proprietors' Records." One of 500 copies. Spine tanned, a little age darkening, small scratch and a little scuffing on bottom right of rear board but otherwise volume is complete, tight, unmarked and wholly sound. This unique work was meticulously deciphered, arranged and recorded over many years as a labor of love by William S. Swift (1861-1936), civil engineer and surveyor and longtime town clerk of Vineyard Haven, and Jennie Cleveland, assistant town clerk. The Records provides an extraordinary look into the daily lives of Americans (who were not Americans when these records began) from the 17th to the 19th century. It details the real-life problems, concerns, attitudes, and solutions that concerned America from colonial times to the Revolutionary War ("...the unhappy State of the Province in general and of Said County [Dukes] in Particular." p. 206) through to the Civil War, and provides insights into British colonial and American life unobtainable elsewhere.…

This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. Thus, with apologies to our northern and southern neighbors, I use the title A History of American Art, knowing full well that the terms America and the United States are not synonymous...." - Preface from A History of American Art

This book is in good condition. There is a lot of wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. There is also a substantial amount of staining on the cover boards. The pages are yellowed and tanned. There are also markings throughout the book. "The roots of this book reach back to the early 1950s in Paris, where I began my professional career as a journalist. France, supported by the United States, was then fighting to retain its hold in Indochina against the Vietminh, the Communist-led nationalist movement there. As I reported on the French end of the war, I soon became acquainted with the names and places in Vietnam from a distance, But I scarcely imagined that they were to be part of my own experience. Then, in 1959, I was assigned to cover eastern Asia; the region that included Vietnam became my beat for more than two decades. I visited Vietnam most recently in 1981 for seven weeks, the longest permitted an American correspondent since the Communists gained control of the entire…

Description:
Indianapolis: Dog Ear Publishing, January 2013. Trade Paperback. Fine. Slight reading wear to corners, otherwise pristine. Not from a library. No remainder mark. Not clipped. Not damaged. Suitable for gifting. 163 pages. The 25 authors of this book were volunteers in the first Peace Corps rural community development project in Africa: Sierra Leone, 1965-67. They are also the first group to tell a collective story of Peace Corps volunteers, anywhere. The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.
