Sergei Ivanovich Amaglobeli (1899-1946) was a Georgian Soviet theatre scholar and critic, who held positions in Georgian theater and cinema before moving to Moscow in the late 1920s. The chapters, true to Marxist scholarship, focus on separate phenomena such as "Feudal theatre," "Popular theatre," and "Bourgeois theatre" as well as the theatre of workers and of the Soviets. Information is also given on individual studios and theaters, as well as a reflection on Georgian theatre as a national theatre.
