About This Item
New York: The Macmillan Co, 1931. First Edition. Octavo. Author's first book. 277(1)pp., A short story split into four sections, each section taking a different tone. Set during the Rebellion, two soldiers from the enemy's camp, held as hostages and entertained in the friendliest way, are led out to be reluctantly shot by their host; a wife betrays her brutal husband to the enemy; and more. A very nice copy bound in blue gray cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, spine lettering gilt, a couple of corners lightly bumped, a near fine copy in very good in unclipped pictorial dust jacket with light chipping and soiling to spine and edge of rear panel, an abrasion to upper right corner of front panel . A scare work of this author's first book especially in dust jacket.
