[1965 SKIDMORE OWINGS & MERRILL GUIDES AND PROCEDURES ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS] GUIDES AND PROCEDURES [typed paste-on label on front cover], GUIDES AND PROCEDURES HANDBOOK [at bottom of text pages], softcover, clip-bound, about 100 pages right-hand pages only, photocopy of noted Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architectural firm working guide/manual for projects, date at bottom pages August 16, 1965, reference for 1976 unidentified project in Iran (near the end of the Shah's reign), much varied illustrated content including drawings, charts, graphs, inside front cover handwritten in black ink "International Products Co. 9608-100, Alborz Industrial Community Qazvin Iran", below this in pencil "Imperial Government of Iran 9700-001, Bell Operations Co., SOM", in pencil inside borders "June 15 – August 19, 1976, Studio Head, Project Mgr., Job Captain [with names, plus 3 other names with no titles], first page headed "Working Drawings Phase Guide"… "The procedures outlined are directed primarily towards the work normally to be accomplished by the Architectural Division…The Guide has been divided chronologically into the Periods of Work most commonly associated with the Working Drawing Phase of any project…Each Period of Work is then organized into the more detailed development for that period in logical orderly steps"…with chapters and illustrations on columns, walls, floors, doorways, cabinets, furniture, etc. noting materials, note of "laboratory furniture" suggests this Handbook was tailored to some scientific or research facility in northern Iran which was never begun or was not completed because the Shan was ousted in 1979 in the Iranian Revolution, see article "American Architects in Iran Saw Gigantic Projects Fade Away" by James Barron, N. Y. Times, Sept. 9, 1979, which mentions Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and also "5 Years After Copier Deal, Bell Is a Big Factor in Iran" by Nicholas Gage, N. Y. Times, March 4, 1979, for Bell operations in Iran; RARE, none found recorded at WorldCat (8/23/22) or found for sale online with one-of-a-kind notes inside front cover and individual's name label on front cover, presumed limited printing provided in-house to firm employees/architects as required for working with clients on prospective projects, individual's name in typescript on paste-on label at top right of front cover; CONDITION: well-preserved working copy, minimal wear, partial loss of titling of document and section at bottom of a few pages.
