Berlin: H. Berthold, (1924). Quarto. Textured, paper-covered boards, with titles printed in colors; [92]pp, chiefly illus. Title pages in Hebrew and German; Preface in seven languages, including German, Yiddish, Arabic, English, Hebrew, Polish and French, signed in type by Josef Tscherkassky, Manager of the Oriental Department of Type-Foundry H. Berthold AG. Spine backstrip lacking; general external rubbing and wear; one type block fully marked out with white ink, presumably as issued by the publisher); internally complete, Good or better.
A lavishly-produced specimen book by the Berlin type foundry H. Berthold. From the Preface: "This catalogue of Hebrew and Jewish types the first of its kind should redress a great deficiency hitherto existing in Hebrew printing matters. The catalogue contains not only the types but also numerous specimens such as might be employed for books and fine printing. It is a collection of specimens for the Hebrew typographer intended for facilitating to him the connection with the western art of printing..." Printing samples printed in color throughout the catalog, with type sets illustrated in black and white.
