Pittsfield, Massachusetts: Little & Werden, Printed By C. Montague, 1845. First edition, 1845. Softcover, 28 pages. Covers age-toned and soiled with edge chipping to the front cover, pencil inscription on title page indicating the the book was a gift from Miss Bliss, a school teacher in Pittsfield in 1853, pages otherwise lightly foxed but clean with no other markings. The story of an unfortunate man of the Asian mountains who lost his beloved wife, and soon afterward, his two children; and who lost his faith in God but regained it after awakening from a horiffic dream in which surface beauty hid much ugliness. Includes a poem entitled The Departed Child. . First Edition. Soft Cover. Fair. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
