Laid in is an introduction which tells of the year-by-year process of writing the book, his relationship to Doubleday, and how the illustrator, Reinord Von Whitt-Pritchette, was brought in and given advance manuscript copies to prepare the book design. A fine copy bound in brown leather lettered and decorated in gilt, all edges gilt.
