About This Item

Washington, D.C.: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1971. First edition and first printing. Oblong hardcover. A collection of black and white photographs of life in the United States. A clean and tight near fine copy in cloth boards and with a bookplate to the front pastedown and the stamp of International Center of Photography to the copyright page and in a near fine dust jacket with some small edge tears and with some other minor wear. Still, a pleasing copy of the much less common hardcover issue of an early book from this vastly underrated photographer.
