Philadelphia: Claxton, Remsen & Haffelfinger, 1874. First edition. Leather_bound. Very Good. Scarce. 18mo. (4" x 6") in self folding leather wraps with front flap, flap decorated in gilt with an image of a19th century Baldwin passenger locomotive, spine lettered in gilt, all edges gilt. Frontispiece portrait engraving of M.W. Baldwin with tissue guard. 324 pp. with index, glossary of technical terms, table of time differences from New York, table of milages. Illustrated with full page engravings of various locomotives and with diagrams. Interior tight and clean, leather had some rubbing about the edges and shallow loss at head and foot of spine. Withal, the best copy of this scarce railroad piece we have encountered.
