In her left hand is a love letter [from the young man?]. They are cheek to cheek. . The text to their right in 'running grass' style. Above the couple is another small sketch drawing of a woman about to kiss the neck of a young man. He is clearly a Samurai, wearing the typical Chonmage [top-knot], a common hair style of the Edo period [1603-1868]. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . *** CONDITION: The work is drawn on very thin, laid Washi [handmade] mulerry paper. There is an old mended tear at the upper right corner with a few other small mends to the back side.
