About This Item
Cambridge, England: Unpublished, 1951. Original handwritten letter from E. M. W. Tillyard to College of William and Mary English Professor Fraser Neiman in response to Neiman's invitation for Tillyard to lecture at W&M. It is a gracious and chatty letter in which Tillyard lays out his plans for a visit to the U.S. for lectures at Johns Hopkins and expresses his hope that his health will allow him to include W&M on his visit. As for his health, he provides more than the expected detail about his problem with his appendix. The letter is on the letterhead of The Master's Lodge, Jesus College, Cambridge (Tillyard was the Master) and is in the original mailing envelope. Both letter and envelope are in very good condition.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. Collectible-Fine. 8" X 5 1/8". Manuscript.
