About This Item
New York, NY Rand McNally & Company, 1937. Hardcover First Edition [1937], unstated. Very Good: shows light wear to extremities, a little heavier at the lower corner tips, which are just starting to fray, as are the head and heel of the backstrip; mild overall rubbing; the backstrip is moderately sunned, but the silver titles and designs thereon remain clearly legible, if not as bold as when new; very slight spine lean; an adult has inscribed his name in ink at the top of the front flyleaf and a child has also written her name and address at the same in pencil; faint soiling to the outside edges. The binding remains secure; the text is clean. A lightly used copy, structurally sound and tighly bound, showing moderate wear and a couple of minor flaws. A sturdy copy, quite presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.25 x 6.7 x 1.55 inches). 352 pages. Five Full-Page Color Illustrations by Milo Winter, and another as the pastedown illustration at the front panel. Decorated Endpapers. Black cloth over boards with gilt titles at the front panel and backstrip. The Windermere Series. Language: English. Weight: 2 pound, 0.7 ounces. First Edition [1937], unstated. This situation is somewhat ambiguous, Rand McNally transitioned to a different methold of designating first editions in 1937. The statement: "Edition of 1937", may indicate that this edition, with Milo Winter's illustrations, was first published in 1937, or that this edition, with Winter's illustrations copyrighted in 1936, is a "later edition", published in 1937. Hardback: Pastedown Illustration at the front panel.
