About This Item

Andoversford: The Whittington Press, 1976. Deluxe Limited Edition. Octavo, 200 x 153mm. [8], 35, [5] pp. Bound in maroon calf, banded spine with gilt lettering, gilt decoration to front board, gilt internal borders in a matching maroon cloth slipcase. Marbled endpapers, top edge gilt and deckled edges. Numbered and signed by J. B. Priestley.

Slipcase gently used, head and tail a tad bruised with 2mm nicks at each end, closed 45mm and 20mm tears to cloth at base, spine is lightly sunned; gilt on spine a little dull and two of the three bands are a bit worn; a binding error visible on spine as the word ‘the' in the title has been blind stamped overlapping each other, gilt only fills the correct placement of the word; blank endpapers slightly toned towards edges, otherwise clean and bright throughout. Number 36 in a sequence of 80 Deluxe Limited Signed Editions from a total edition limited to 400 copies.

John Boynton Priestley (1894-1984) was an English novelist, playwright, screenwriter, broadcaster and social commentator.
