First edition. Inscribed on front free endpaper "Tess Simmonds from Mary Murray Oct. 4. 1929". This could possibly be the Author's mother Lady Mary Henrietta Howard (of Castle Howard, Yorkshire) who married George Gilbert Aimé Murray who was an Australian-born British classical scholar and public intellectual ? Green cloth boards with gilt titles to spine. Spine spotted and slightly sunned, small splits to cloth at spine ends. Light fox spotting to prelims, text block edges and occasionally in text but mainly to the margins. Bottom edge rough cut. Some page corners creased. Not ex-library. 330 pp + 4 page publishers catalogue at back. A scarce book. All books are individually described. All overseas orders are sent airmail by Royal Mail International Tracked.
